New Delhi: The 2016 French Open women`s singles final will pit defending champion and world number one Serena Williams against one of the emerging forces, Garbine Muguruza.

If the American wins, it will be her 22nd Grand Slam title equaling the Open-era record set by Steffi Graf in 1999. She would also, at 34, be the oldest winner at Roland Garros.


For Muguruzu, a win today will help her become first Spanish woman to win a Grand Slam since Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario in Paris in 1998. She has never won a Major title.
