BJP revokes party leader Dayashankar Singh`s expulsion
Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Keshav Prasad Maurya has revoked the expulsion of party leader Dayashankar Singh, who was expelled after his controversial statement on Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati.
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Keshav Prasad Maurya has revoked the expulsion of party leader Dayashankar Singh, who was expelled after his controversial statement on Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati.
Singh was the party vice-president when he was expelled in July last year for linking Mayawati to a prostitute, triggering outrage.
The party's move to expel Singh was seen as placating the Dalit votes, a key constituent in Uttar Pradesh.
Dayashankar's wife Swati Singh yesterday won the assembly elections from Sarojini Nagar.
The saffron party's move came a day after it won a landslide victory in India's most-populous state, securing the largest mandate in almost four decades.
