Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today directed the officials to ensure that people with criminal background are not given any government works or contracts.

"The funds allocated in different government schemes must be utlised to ensure welfare of the public. Efforts should be made to ensure that the criminal and corrupt elements are kept out. The government's funds are of the public. Development certainly does not mean irrelevant expenditure," he told the officials during a meeting.


On the water crisis in Bundelkhand region, The Chief Minister asked the officials to ensure there is no shortage of drinking water there, otherwise stringent action would be taken against the official concerned.


"No reports of shortage of water should come from Bundelkhand, else stringent action would be initiated against the officer concerned," the UP Chief Minister said.
