Muzaffarnagar: In an another tragic incident, a woman was allegedly poisoned to death by her in-laws in the Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh on Friday.
The victim, who was a mother of two, was murdered as she was unable to bear a male child, a report said.
After killing the woman, her in-laws then tried to cremate her body without informing her family at the Jansath police station area here.
Acting on information received from some neighbours, police stopped the cremation midway yesterday and arrested the deceased Pinki's in-laws. A case has also been registered against her husband.
The victim's father has lodged a complaint alleging that the in-laws were demanding dowry from his daughter and harassing her for not giving birth to a male child.
He alleged that the accused persons had poisoned her and tried to cremate her without informing him.
Police said they are searching for her absconding husband.
