New Delhi: Days after the formal announcement of the assembly election schedule for five states by the Election Commission of India, Zee News conducted an Opinion Poll to predict the voters' mood in all 5 poll-bound states -  Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa, and Manipur.

‘Janta Ka Mood’ - billed as the biggest opinion poll - received over 10 lakh responses from people of the five states and according to it, assembly elections, 2022 in Uttarakhand will see a close contest between the ruling BJP and Congress. The two main parties are literally running neck and neck here. Congress is expected to win around 35 seats while the ruling BJP is expected to bag 33 seats, according to the Zee News opinion poll.


Congress veteran and former chief minister Harish Rawat has emerged as the most-favoured CM face in Uttarakhand as compared to the incumbent chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami (BJP).


Key findings of the Zee News opinion polls for Uttarakhand:


 


In the 41 seats of the Garhwal region, BJP is likely to secure around 43 per cent of the total vote share, while Congress is likely to get 38 per cent. At the same time, Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party is likely to bag 14 per cent of the total vote share while 5 per cent will go to the other parties.


In Garhwal, the ruling BJP is expected to win somewhere between 22-24 (23) seats. Congress is way behind the ruling BJP here, and the party appears to be getting between 15-17 (16) seats. AAP and others may get one seat each here. 


Talking about the entire state, the ruling BJP can win between 31-35 (33) seats, Congress 33-37 (35), AAP 0-2 (1) and others 0-1 (1).


In Garhwal, Congress veteran Harish Rawat has emerged as the most-favoured CM candidate with 43% of people voting in his favour. At the same time, 23% of people have favoured incumbent CM Pushkar Singh Dhami. He is closely followed by Anil Baluni with 17% and Col Ajay Kothiyal (AAP) with 8% votes, according to the Zee News opinion poll.


Talking about the vote percentage in 29 assembly segments of the Kumaun region, Congress is leading in terms of vote percentage here with 42 % vote share followed by BJP with 38 per cent, AAP 10 per cent vote while others are also likely to get around 10% vote share in the region.


Now talking about assembly seats in Kumaon, BJP is expected to win between 9-11 (10) seats here. Congress is expected to win between 18-20 (19) seats. Others are likely to get 0-1 (0) seats in the region.


Who is the most preferred PM candidate in Uttarakhand?


 


According to the Zee News opinion poll, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again emerged as the people's first choice for the top post in Uttarakhand. He has been favoured by 79% of the total respondents in Uttarakhand, while 14% favoured Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. 


Uttarakhand is one of the five states where the elections are set to commence in February, alongside Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, Goa, and Punjab. While elections in Uttar Pradesh will be conducted in seven phases from 10 February to 7 March. Uttarakhand, Goa and Punjab are scheduled to go for polls in one phase on 14 February. Lastly, Manipur will have two-phased polls on 27 February and 3 March.


The counting of the votes will be done on March 10.
