Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has said that he wished Indian leaders to exercise restraint and discretion in making statements about the Indo-Pak summit in Agra. Addressing the diplomatic corps at a dinner hosted in Islamabad in connection with Pakistan`s Independence Day celebrations on Tuesday night, he said that I only wish that there is a degree of restraint and discretion in the statements across the border on the Agra summit.
Musharraf`s remark came in the wake of the political class in India squarely blaming Pakistan for the failure of the Agra summit to come out with an agreed joint statement. Reiterating that Pakistan was interested in negotiated settlement with India on all outstanding issues, Musharraf said that he would like to continue the dialogue process with that country, state-owned Pakistan television reported. Mushrraf`s references to talks with India followed his remarks in his Independence Day address to the nation in which he said that his government pulled the Kashmir issue out of the closet and made it the focus of the world attention.
