Mysore Aug 24: Kareem Ahmed, the lone man fighting the Karnataka government's decision to abide by poacher and bandit Veerappan's demand to release 51 associates, on Thursday said his writ petition to the Chief Justice of India was being examined. Ahmed, father of police officer Shakeel Ahmed who fell victim to the bullets of the brigand in 1992, also said his lawyer Badrinath Babu would file a criminal revision petition in the Supreme Court, challenging the state's move, if the writ did not stand the test of scrutiny. Kareem's advocate Manjunath, who had jointly appeared with Ramakrishnan, opposing the withdrawal of TADA charges against the 51 alleged associates of Veerappan, said there was every possibility of the apex court taking a serious note of the merits of the case "which had been altered to suit the state's interest in its single-minded goal to release actor Rajkumar from the bandit, setting aside the due procedure of law".
