Security forces have been put on high alert and stringent measures taken to prevent any attempts by militants to attack soft targets' in view of Prime Minister A B Vajpayee's U S visit early next week. “There are already indications that militants may create some sensation by resorting to massacres. We are already on the job and see what lies in the store,” a senior security official said. “We are working on intelligence inputs so that we can thwart the militants plan before they execute it,” a BSF officer said adding the organisation had been alerted all over and operations against militants intensified. Authorities were not taking any chance and security forces in the state particularly in the pockets inhabited by minority community were put on high alert to thwart any attempt of militants to breach the peace, the official said.
