Tata Punch was the fastest SUV to reach the 1 lakh production milestone. However, the SUV has now successfully reached the next step in the ladder - 2 lakh unit production milestone, in just 19 months. The Punch is proving to be an excellent proposition for both buyers and the carmaker. It has been averaging at around 10,000 units a month at a consistent pace. The SUV also is managing to be the second best-selling model for Tata Motors. The Punch is priced from Rs 6 lakh onwards, and it tops at Rs 9.52 lakh, ex-showroom.

Tata Punch was launched in 2021 and has been one of the most popular cars in the segment. Powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine, the Punch is one of India’s safest sub-compact SUVs with a 5-Star GNCAP rating. Along with the safety the car appeals to consumers because of its design. The youngest member of Tata Motors’ PV family has managed to establish its position among Indian car buyers and its highest-ever sales of 12,006 units in August 2022 along with clocking the fastest first 100k in just 10 months since its launch.

The SUV is sold exclusively with a 1.2L, naturally-aspirated, 4-cylinder, petrol motor. It pushes out a peak power output of 86 PS against 113 Nm of max torque. The engine can be paired to either a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT. Furthermore, it will soon be launched in CNG avatar soon, which will come with dual-cylinder technology. In simpler words, two cylinders will be fitted in the spare wheel cavity. The Punch iCNG will retain its boot space to a large extent. Moreover, the spare wheel will be positioned underneath the body. The Punch iCNG will follow its way to the market soon after the launch of the Altroz iCNG, which is likely to happen by next month
