Sri Lankan foreign minister Lakshman Kadirgamar arrived in New Delhi, on Thursday, on a two-day official visit to discuss the latest developments relating to the Norwegian efforts to kickstart a new round of peace talks between Colombo and the LTTE. Kadirgamar is expected to apprise the Indian leadership about his government's stand on the peace talks offer made by LTTE supremo V Prabhakaran in his birthday speech on November 27. While expressing his willingness to have unconditional talks with the Sri Lankan government, Prabhakaran has insisted that Colombo should restore normalcy in the Tamil-dominated north-eastern province by stopping ongoing military operations and agree for immediate resumption of food and medical supplies. The Sri Lankan minister will meet his Indian counterpart Jaswant Singh, on Friday, for intensive parleys on a wide range of issues. He will also call on Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a foreign office spokesman told reporters. Bureau Report
