Helicopter carrying essential commodities like sugar, rice, wheat, tea leaves, salt and edible oil on Friday made several sorties in the Himachal Pradesh flood affected areas of Reckong Peo, Sangla and Pooh. About 300 quintals of various commodities have been sent to the flood affected areas in five helicopters. The additional landing points for helicopters and dropping zones are being identified to supply essential commodities in other cut off areas like Ropa valley, Moorang tehsil etc.Helicopters have also brought back many foreign tourists stranded at Sangla and also local people and more than 100 people have already availed the facility. The state government would continue the helicopter facilities till normalcy returns. Meanwhile, pedestrian traffic between Wangtu and Tapri and between Tapri and Kalpa along old Hindustan Tibetan road had been restored. Work has been resumed to restore pedestrian path along damaged national highway between Pooh and Spillow. Chief Minister P K Dhumal said that according to the latest figures received from the flood affected districts 90 deaths had been confirmed besides 25 persons were missing. He said many bodies were still buried under the debris. He did not rule out the toll going upto 150.
