According to noted trade analyst Ramesh Bala, the film might be pushed ahead to April 2018 release. However, there is no official confirmation on the same as yet. 'Padmavati' stars Deepika Padukone playing the titular role of Rani Padmini, Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji and Shahid Kapoor as Dippy's on-screen husband, Raja Ratan Singh.

The film has already been under a lot of scanner by certain fringe groups which resulted in vandalisation of sets in Jaipur. The filmmaker was abused by Karni Sena members and shoot disrupted.
