Chennai, Sept 19: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa today ordered release of water from Pechiparai dam into Pattnangal canal to meet the drinking water requirements of people of Kanyakumari district. In a statement here, Jayalalithaa said she had received representations from the public of the area requesting that water be released into the canal to overcome drinking water shortage in the wake of failure of monsoon. Water would be released into the canal for a week at 200 cusecs per day, she added. Bureau Report
