On Saturday, India cricketer Mohammad Kaif congratulated him after the the PM led Bharatiya Janata Party to a massive win in Uttar Pradesh assembly election.


In his tweet, Kaif wrote "Congratulations @BJP4India and @narendramodi ji for a spectacular victory in UP and Uttarakhand. UP victory is massive."



Kaif was one of first sportspersons and also member from opposition Congress party to congratulate Modi.


The 36-yar-old contested on a Congress ticket in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Phulpur in UP.


In his response, Modi thanked Kaif and stated the fact that "the scale and support" was "historical" for the party.



BJP returned to power after a gap of 14 years by winning more than 300 of the 403 assembly seats.
