  • India vs Australia 1st ODI LIVE: India win by 5 wickets

India had a challenging start to their chase in the ODI against Australia, with the hosts reduced to 16/3 in just five overs due to the swinging and seaming new ball. The Australian bowlers were on fire, with Stoinis providing the first breakthrough and Starc dismissing Kohli and SKY off successive deliveries. Gill survived a few close calls but fell to Starc, becoming his third victim. At 39/4, the partnership of Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul looked to steady the ship, but Stoinis broke the stand by bouncing out Hardik. Ravindra Jadeja then came in to bat and, after earlier initiating the Aussie collapse by removing a well-set Mitch Marsh, he and KL batted calmly. The duo played with discipline and stitched a brilliant match-winning partnership, despite a few plays and misses and streaky shots.

Rahul notched up his 13th ODI fifty, while Jadeja remained unbeaten on 45 in addition to his 2-fer and a screamer in the field. Although India chased down the total with 10.1 overs to spare, they were made to work hard for the win due to Australia's excellent bowling at the start of the innings. In a heartwarming moment, Jadeja hugged Rahul in celebration of their successful partnership. Overall, it was a great performance by India, with Jadeja making valuable contributions with both bat and ball to help secure the victory.

Mitchell Marsh hit a ball towards mid-wicket in the eleventh over, but Kohli, playing at the covers, quickly pursued the ball, ran across the field, and successfully collected it. While the Australian batsmen only scored two runs, Kohli's efforts undoubtedly spurred his colleagues to move more quickly. When he ran back to his fielding position, Kohli grinned, pleased with his own play.

Starc had pitched it up and managed to get it to curl late into Kohli, who was shuffling across the crease in an attempt to play a flick shot. Unfortunately, Kohli missed the ball, and the impact was very close to the stumps, suggesting that it would have gone on to hit the leg. There was no bat involved, and ball-tracking confirmed that the delivery was hitting the stumps, with all three reds lighting up on the screen. Kishan had to leave, and he also burned a review in the process. The HawkEye technology showed that the ball would have crashed into the middle stump. Stoinis picked up a wicket in his first over, sending Kishan back to the pavilion with just 3 runs off 8 balls to his name.

  • India vs Australia 1st ODI LIVE: Mohammed Shami During Mid-Innings

"There is a lot of hard work involved, you have to work on your fitness. You have to work hard in the nets. When you have the rhythm and the bounce and seam position is good, you get the results. There’s always good bounce on the Mumbai wickets. I bowled in the good areas and got the rewards. I planned with Hardik to keep one slip in place. The ball was moving a bit and the idea was to keep bowling in the tight off stump channel. If everyone contributes a bit, then it will be really good for the confidence of the players. We have done well to bundle out Australia for 188 and we should be able to chase it down. I get to know from the seam as to how well I am holding the ball."
