The latest accolade to further brighten the already shinning fate of the duo is the ICC Test ranking.

While Ravichandran Ashwin has continued his dominance at the top of ICC Player Rankings for Test bowlers, Virat Kohli isn't far from reaching the summit of ICC Player Rankings for Test Batsmen with his surge to second spot.

Ashwin has now reached 904 points to run up a 37-point lead over second-placed Rangana Herath of Sri Lanka. What is more special for the Chennai-born offie is that his current points tally is the second best-ever by an off-spinner after Muttiah Muralidaran (920), fifth best among spinners after Tony Lock (912), Derek Underwood (907) and Shane Warne (905), and the 18th in the overall list.

Kohli, presently ranked 2nd in One-Day Internationals and first in Twenty20 Internationals, is trailing Australian captain Steve Smith by just 11 points. Considering Australia's poor show in the longer format of the game, it will be hard for the Aussie skipper to resist Kohli from becoming the leader in all three formats of the game.

Other thank Kohli and Ashwin, opener Murali Vijay and all-rounder Jayant Yadav have also climbed new hightes as Vijay has moved up five places to 24th position after his knock of 136 while Yadavs 104 runs at number nine position, has pushed him up 31 slots to 56th rank in batsman rankings.
