But the new crop of super-fit players have helped shed that unwanted image. And we have been treated with some brilliant fielding efforts by these women cricketers.


In one such moment, Bridget Patterson of Adelaide Strikers produced a stunning throw from the deep to hit the wicket, and affect a run out on Saturday.


In the second match of the 2016-17 Women's Big Bash League in North Sydney, Strikers defended a modest total of 116 thanks to their brilliant fielding.


Patterson's effort was one of the three run-outs Strikers have produced against Melbourne Renegades today.
