Mumbai: The Maharashtra State Education Board's class XII examination began on Tuesday with over 15 lakh students writing their first paper.
A total of 15,05,365 students appeared for the examination, of whom 3,40,000 are from Mumbai.

Of the total students, 8,48,929 are boys, while 6,56,426 are girls. There are 2,710 examination centres across the state, according to a statement issued by the Board.


Autistic students have been allowed to use calculator for Math and Physics papers, while students have been barred from carrying mobile phones inside the examination hall.


Nearly some 250 flying squads and some vigilance committees have been formed under the chairmanship of district collector to check instances of cheating and avoid any untoward incident.


The Board has also requested all divisional commissioners, district collectors, chief officers to pay visit the examination centres and also permitted its video recording.
