New Delhi, May 06: The CBI has registered six cases against 22 officials serving in different Union ministries who allegedly obtained appointment as scheduled tribe candidate by submitting fake caste certificates. These cases have been registered on the orders of the Delhi High Court passed in the civil writ petition filed by an office superintendent with the National Archives of India Chandreswar Prasad, a CBI spokesman said here today.

In his petition, portions of which form the basis of FIR, the petitioner alleged that a large number of persons from Bihar had obtained employment under the scheduled tribe category in DDA, MCD, NDMC, AIIMS and schools and colleges of Delhi on the basis of forged and fabricated caste certificates. Ordering for a CBI probe, Delhi High Court taking serious note of the matter observed that if the submissions of the petitioner were true, then it was a serious encroachment on the rights of the deserving beneficiaries.
