Jhalawar, Rajasthan, Feb 23: The BJP has not ruled out the possibility of Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje's son Dushyant Singh contesting the Lok Sabha polls from Jhalawar.
''Nothing is being ruled out. The party has not yet considered the matter,'' state BJP president Lalit Kishore Chaturvedi said when asked about the reports in this regard.
The Jhalawar seat, represented by Raje for 15 years, had fallen vacant after she resigned following her election to the state assembly after becoming the Chief Minister on December 8.
Saying that she had not looked into the issue, Raje, however, said winnability would be the main criteria in the selection of candidates.
''As a mother, I am not in favour of his joining the election. He has to give priority to his family as he got married only recently,'' Raje said.
''Winnability will be the foremost factor in the selection of candidate from jhalawar also,'' she told reporters here.
Meanwhile, Raghuveer Singh Kaushal, BJP MP from Kota, said he was not in favour of seeking re-election from Kota on health grounds.
Apart from Dushyant Singh, the other prominent name being discussed for a BJP ticket is that of Manvendra Singh, son of Union Finance Minister Jaswant Singh. According to reports, Manvendra, who had lost the last polls from Barmer by more than 32,000 votes, is expected to be named the BJP candidate from the seat once again. Bureau Report
