New Delhi, Apr 21: CBI today asserted that most of
the five accused who have been arrested in the Haren Pandya
assassination case had undergone training in Pakistan but
failed to specify the motive or whether the conspiracy for the
attack was hatched at the behest of Islamabad.
CBI Director P C Sharma, while emphasising the agency was
"fully confident" that Asghar Ali was the "killer" and others
were involved in the crime, said the motive could be specified
only after the investigations get over.
On Pakistan connection, Sharma told reporters here that
Ali and most of the four others had gone to that country prior
to the crime and had undergone training there.
Asked whether the conspiracy had been hatched by Pakistan, he said, "It would be known after the investigation is completed."
Sharma said the five accused, arrested on April 17 in Hyderabad, had been remanded to 10 days' CBI custody and this time would be helpful in unrevealing many things about the attack.
He refused to give a direct reply when asked about the doubts expressed by Pandya's father regarding the authenticity of CBI's version and merely said "we are fully confident" of having arrested the killer.
