Thiruvananthapuram, May 10: Indian Union Muslim League today expressed "deep concern" over the idea of India-US-Israel axis to combat terrorism reportedly mooted by national security advisor Brijesh Mishra. Reacting to reports in this regard, IUML general secretary E Ahmed, MP, said the proposal mooted by Mishra ran contrary to the stand "time and again" stated by the Vajpayee government that it would have no military or security tie-up whatsoever with Israel. "I have conveyed my personal and my party's concern in this regard to External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha. He appreciated my feelings and promised to convey them to the Prime Minister," Ahmed said. Ahmed said it was not for the national security advisor but the Prime Minister to spell out when some serious departure in foreign policy is contemplated as they were accountable to Parliament. "Mishra's statement has sent wrong signals not only to a sizeable section of Indian people but also to the Arab countries with whom India always had extremely good relations," the league leader added.
