Agartala, Oct 11: People of Chittamara, a small sleepy village on the foothills of Kalajhari in south Tripura district, are walking taller after local lass Saraswati Saha struck gold in the women's 200 metres final at the Busan Asiad. Saha's feat has enthralled every one in the village. It was an occasion like never before when she wrested gold in the Asian Games yesterday.
When Saha climbed the podium to receive the gold, the somnolent village was transformed. Youths broke into dance, the old and the young embraced while others swung to make the air thick with colours amidst the crackling of crackers.
Tripura's sports minister Jitendra Chowdhuri today congratulated Saraswati Saha (nee de) for her success in the Asiad. He said the entire country was proud of her achievement.
