Kohima, Oct 26: President APJ Abdul Kalam today laid emphasis on decentralisation of power to bring about efficiency in the delivery system. A uniform developmental model in a diverse country like India might not give successful results and decentralisation of power is most imperative, Kalam said while addressing a gathering at Khuzma village, 28 km South of here. Religion, spiritualism and science could get together to work for development and peace, he said adding India could be transformed to a developed nation like that of the G-8 countries if it could be made economically stronger and self-reliant. On Nagaland, he said, has all potential to be developed into a peaceful and prosperous state if its people have a vision. People should give stress on development of agriculture and food processing sector in the state with the help of new technology, proper infrastructure and efficient marketing network, Kalam said.

Stating that the state has both natural and human resources, the President who has been meeting students of the North-East for the past one month, said these areas should be harnessed in a proper way.

Addressing a group of 250 students from schools and colleges at the Durbar Hall of the Rajbhavan, he said "I believe Nagaland is a beautiful land, minds are also beautiful. Beautiful minds with creative thinking can translate dreams into action."
