Ahmedabad, July 09: The Gujarat High Court has recommended suspension after departmental inquiry of two city police personnel, including an additional police commissioner, for not filing chargesheets against three accused involved in firing that claimed two lives during the communal riots in the state, thereby over-reaching the process of law. Additional Police Commissioner (sector 1) Satish Sharma and police inspector of Ellisbridge police station N H Joshi have tried to interfere with the administration of justice and over-reach the process of law by showing scant regard to the orders passed by the high court and the sessions court in bail proceedings of the accused, which is a serious misconduct, the order said yesterday.
Justice B J Sethna delivered the order in response to a criminal miscellaneous application (filed by Aamer Yunus Bhavnagari).
When contacted, Police Commissioner K R Kaushik told reporters today that we are going in appeal against the order. The process for filing appeal in high court has been initiated. On February 28, Dr Yunus Bhavnagri, a dentist and former national rifle shooting champion, had opened fire on a mob which had gathered outside his flat at delight apartments in Paldi area of the city, killing two persons and injuring one.
His son Aamer Yunus Bhavnagari and Aslam Harun Golibar were the other two accused in the case.
