Blaming Pakistan for its active support to terrorists involved in the December 13 attack on Parliament, Defence Minister George Fernandes on Monday said India had moved some troops to forward areas to match Pakistan's build-up on the border.
"After December 13, there is tension on the border. There is build-up of forces by Pakistan on border. So India also had to take similar steps to send some troops to forward areas. The process is also on to send some more forces," he said addressing jawans guarding the sensitive border at an altitude of 18,000 ft under inhospitable conditions. Referring to December 13 attack, Fernandes said all evidence suggests to conspiracy hatched by Pakistan to not only bring down the Parliament House but also to destablise the strong democracy in the country.
The terrorists, who attacked the seat of democracy, came fully prepared and were punished by the security personnel, he said.
Stating that Army was fully prepared to meet any eventuality, the defence minister asked the soldiers to be vigilant to the challenges.
The country has faced similar challenges earlier also and emerged successful, he said noting the courage demonstrated by the Indian soldiers dring the Kargil conflict. Bureau Report
