Jammu, Mar 31: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today joined her ally BJP in attacking the healing touch policy of PDP-led coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir saying it was not in the interest of the country. “I am against the policy of healing touch of Mufti government, who has adopted soft stand in dealing with militants by releasing them,” she told reporters here. “A terrorist is a terrorist and should be dealt with firmly with an iron hand,” said Mayawati, who was here to chair a BSP meet. This healing touch policy does not go in the interest of the nation, she said citing massacre of 24 pandits by militants in Nadimarg in south Kashmir last week.
Mayawati said the terrorised Kashmiri pandits should be allowed to take a decision on their own about migrating from the Valley. Denying charges of victimisation of Kashmiri Muslim students in Uttar Pradesh, the chief minister said action was taken against only those found guilty and asserted that the state would not be allowed to be used as a breeding ground of militancy.
