Barcelona, Nov 18: With Ferrero and Australia's Mark Philippoussis to lead their teams on rankings, Ferrero is assured of meeting former no. 1 Lleyton Hewitt in the opening singles. They are 3-3 in head-to-heads, and Ferrero won their last clash in the US Open quarterfinals.
"Juan Carlos has taken the measure of Lleyton Hewitt on numerous occasions, he has played well against him," Avendano said. "With Philippoussis you have to be at the top of your game from the very first ball. He's a more difficult opponent."
Corretja and Feliciano Lopez have already begun working out on grass courts in Barcelona, and will arrive in Melbourne on Wednesday.
By Saturday, both Moya and Ferrero will arrive from the United States where they have been relaxing following the Masters Cup in Houston, and the team will begin to train in earnest, said Avendano.
