Gangtok, Feb 13: Sikkim police have arrested two persons in connection with the murder of a State Bank of India branch manager in south district and also recovered the looted amount and weapons from the duo. Surja Darjee, canteen boy, and Prasant Sarkar, sweeper of the Namthang branch of the SBI were arrested by the police yesterday for allegedly killing manager D B Diyali inside the bank on Monday evening after dragging him out from his house, according to IGP (law and order) O H Subba. Subba said the south district police also recovered over Rs seven lakh amount which was looted by the accused from the bank's vault.
After their arrest, the two accused were produced in a court today and given seven days police remand, the IGP said.
Following the killing incident, the bank employees across Sikkim struck work yesterday and took out a procession to express solidarity. The banking services throughout the state remained paralysed. Bureau Report
