Woking, May 13: Queen Elizabeth opens McLaren Technology Centre. Queen Elizabeth II opened the McLaren racing team's multi-million pound futuristic headquarters on Wednesday (May 12). The venue was a one-time ostrich farm, near Woking, Surrey, where the McLaren racing group has spent some 300 million sterling (550 U.S. dollars) building a state-of-the-art technology centre. There to meet the Queen were former Formula 1 champions Emerson Fittipaldi, Alain Prost and Mika Hakkinen, together with Team McLaren Mercedes' current drivers David Coulthard and Kimi Raikkonen.
The Queen, who opened the futuristic new building, was shown race-winning cars which have made McLaren the most successful team in recent history.
