Amidst reports of possible US retribution strike on terrorist bases in Afghanistan, Russia has said it would neither take part in a possible ground offensive nor let CIS territory be used for launching NATO led military operations against the Afghanistan.

There are absolutely no grounds for deployment of Nato operations on CIS Central Asian States, even hypothetical, even for supposition, Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov told reporters in the Armenian capital Yerevan. Central Asia is in the zone of competence of CIS collective security pact, Ivanov said.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Russian Defence Staff, General Anatoly Kvashnin has denied reports of the US consultations with Russia on joint strike on terrorist targets in Afghanistan.
The United States have enough might and everything to independently carry out the operation, General Kvashnin was quoted as saying by local radio 'Mayak'. Bureau Report
