New Delhi, Oct 24: Animal rights activists today staged a demonstration here demanding a strict legislation to impose effective penalties on people responsible for ill-treatment of animals. The Centre should pass a legislation to make the penalties against the inhumane treatment of animals stricter, People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) co-ordinator Poorva Joshipura said in her address.
In a unique way of protest, activists beat a life-like effigy of a calf to draw attention towards beating and overcrowding of animals during transport.
