New Delhi, Feb 21: Left and other parties are
likely to send a delegation of their leaders to Iraq next
month to protest the us war move and express solidarity with
the people of that country.
The delegation would also include representatives of mass organisations, party sources said.
CPI(M) leader in the Lok Sabha Somnath Chatterjee told reporters that the delegation is likely to leave on march one.
He also condemned the government's "ambivalent attitude" on Iraq saying it was "capitulating to imperialism" by not making its stand clear on the US threat to launch a war against that country.
Referring to the mention of the issue in the presidential address to Parliament, Chatterjee had earlier said "the strongest expression our government could find was that a very unhappy situation prevailed in Iraq".
"It is dilution of a very explosive situation in which millions of people are being disturbed. What is happening has disturbed the conscience of the world as is being reflected in the massive protests," he had said, adding the war move was "a clearest open threat being given by the imperialist power".
