Mumbai, Mar 14: The Indian film industry, which currently is facing an all-time low at the box office following a string of flops, has another long standing worry to tackle--piracy. Piracy of films has been increasing with every passing day despite sustained measures to curb it. To check this malaise which is said to be spreading at an alarming rate, the Motion Picture Association (MPA)'s on-going efforts in the Asia Pacific region commenced in Mumbai with the recent launch of the Indian version of its regional anti-piracy programme - the ''DVD rewards campaign''. The forum saw IMPPA president Smita Thackeray, well-known producer Bobby Bedi, Rakeysh Mehra, film star Vivek Oberoi, advocate Chander M Lall and regional MPA spokesperson, Mickael C Ellis, vice-president and regional director, Asia-Pacific anti-piracy operations talking about various measures being undertaken as part of the campaign to fight the war against piracy.
With the campaign tagline - ''Nothing beats the real thing: say 'no' to piracy'' -- the MPA will urge people in India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and the Philippines, not to buy pirated optical discs. Bureau Report
