Lucknow, June 19: Leader of opposition in UP assembly and former national convenor of the Babri Masjid Action Committee Mohammad Azam Khan today said there could be "no compromise" on the original site of the Babri Masjid. "The masjid was and is still there (at disputed site)", Khan told a news agency here. He said as the matter was pending before the court the concerned parties should await its decision. "There cannot be any compromise on the place of the masjid, the only out of court solution can be let the masjid stay there and build the temple somewhere else in the disputed land," Khan said. On the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) chairman Maulana Rabe Hasan Nadvi's statement that any worthwhile proposal to resolve the deadlock would be considered, Khan said it can be his (Nadvi's) personal opinion. "Nadvi is not AIMPLB. The board comprises of several members and their opinion is what matters," he said. Khan said that if the seer's formula spoke of shifting the temple to somewhere else in the vast disputed land, there could be a solution. He said it was ironical that the issue is raked whenever elections approach and asked the concerned parties not to behave like "jestors". "It is a serious matter and it should be taken seriously", he said.
