Kolkata, Jan 03: Trinamool Congress today charged West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee with "total failure" in maintaining discipline in the police force, which, the party said has been causing "absolute anarchy all over the state."

"Buddhadev Bhattacharjee has miserably failed in disciplining his police force and proved himself to be unfit for holding the home portfolio any longer," Trinamool Congress leader Pankaj Banerjee told newsmen here. Describing as "shameful act" the recent assault on a city police sergeant by a group of constables on new year's eve while he was dealing with an incident of eve-teasing, Banerjee said, "it can be easily guessed how the custodians of law and order are discharging their responsibility."

Continuing his tirade against the front government for the "worsening law and order," he said indiscipline by the police had added a new dimension to the "overall failure of the administration in the state." TC's rally in the city on January 6 would have a record turnout, he said, adding it would highlight lawlessness and attacks on political adversaries by CPI(M), state government's indifference in solving unemployment problem, industrial backwardness and unjustified taxation measures.

It was "reprehensible" that the administration remained "a mute spectator" to the incidents of assault on women, he added. Bureau Report
