Nalbari, May 30: Two dreaded Ulfa militants involved in several killings were today shot dead by the police near here.

The police shot dead the duo, self-styled sergeant major Soru Hajo alias Bhupen Kalita and Aswini Sarma alias Ramesh Sarma at Katpuha village under Nalbari police station, the police said here.
The ultras were taking shelter in the area when it was cordoned off by the cops.
On seeing the securitymen, the militants lobbed hand grenade and tried to escape.
In the ensuing encounter the two were shot dead and one AK-46 rifle with a magazine, 11 rounds of ammunition and one Chinese greanade was recovered from them.
Soru Hajo was the mastermind in the killing of 11 businessmen in Nalbari district three years back.
