Shahi Imam flays AIMPLB for accepting Kanchi proposals
New Delhi, June 25: Shahi Imam of Delhi`s Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari today termed as `unwise` the decision of All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) to consider Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati`s formula on solving the Ayodhya issue and asserted the board had no authorisation from the community to talk to `aggressive` organisations`.
New Delhi, June 25: Shahi Imam of Delhi's Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari today termed as "unwise" the decision of All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) to consider Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati's formula on solving the Ayodhya issue and asserted the board had no authorisation from the community to talk to "aggressive" organisations".
He warned that talks on Ayodhya issue would provide "an excuse to communal forces to spread hatred" against Muslims in the country and maintained the solution to the vexed issue could be achieved only through judiciary.
"It was a united stand of Indian Muslims and organisations that the court decision would be acceptable on this issue. But it is a pity that contrary to it, Muslim Personal Law Board made unwise announcement to consider Shankaracharya's formula without getting idols removed from the Babri Masjid site," Bukhari said in a statement.
"...The negotiation should be possible on Muslim formula and not on Shankaracharya's formula," he said, adding "Muslims have never authorised AIMPLB or any other organisation or individual to talk with 'aggressive organisations' without getting idols removed."
Statements on Babri Masjid issue by VHP, BJP and other Hindu organisations have made it "clear once more that the solution of the issue is possible only in the court decision", he said.
