UP environment secretary suspended
Lucknow, July 02: Uttar Pradesh government today suspended two senior IAS officers, including principal secretary, environment R K Sharma in the wake of the controversy over the Taj corridor project in Agra.
Lucknow, July 02: Uttar Pradesh government today suspended two senior IAS officers, including principal secretary, environment R K Sharma in the wake of the controversy over the Taj corridor project in Agra.
Sharma was suspended on charges of passing the Rs 17
crore project in violation of the norms of Archaeological
Survey of India for carrying out construction work on the
backside of Taj Mahal, an official spokesman said adding he
had been removed from the state environment department last
week.
The state government also took strong exception to the "political activities" of Kanpur commissioner Halim Khan and placed him under suspension, he said.
Khan had reportedly taken part in a meeting of Dalit Panther's Party in Auraiya yesterday, the spokesman said adding secretary, programme implementation department R C Srivastava has been made the new commissioner of Kanpur.
District magistrate of Auraiya was also removed on similar charges and replaced by joint managing director of UPSIDC S Sunderam, the spokesman added. Bureau Report
