Mumbai, Mar 20: A vociferous Shiv Sena-BJP opposition today blocked proceedings and forced five adjournments of Maharashtra Assembly, demanding an apology from Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhubjal for dragging Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in a controversy. The house witnessed pandemonium as the saffron combine resorted to sloganeering and demanded an unconditional apology from Bhujbal, who also holds the home portfolio.
Bhujbal had yesterday stirred a hornets' nest by reading out a transcript of telephonic conversation between underworld don Chhota Shakeel and film-maker Naseem Rizvi, in which the latter talked about the help he had allegedly sought from a PMO official regarding the transfer of three police officials of city crime branch.
Bhujbal read out the transcript while replying to an adjournment motion on the March 13 bomb blast at suburban Mulund by the saffron combine, which had earlier targetted Bhujbal for his alleged links with the underworld.
The issue was raised as soon as the house assembled for the day at 10 am by opposition leader Narayan Rane.
"The opposition will not allow functioning of the House unless Bhujbal tenders an apology," he declared. Bureau Report
