Hollywood, Dec 18: It was an unofficial Michael J. Fox day in Hollywood as the actor received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. A star on the big and small screen -- and now, Hollywood Boulevard as well. Adoring fans waited for Michael J. Fox at the famed sidewalk that runs through tinseltown to accept his star on the Walk of Fame. As the honorary mayor of the city announced it was Michael J. Fox day in Hollywood, the Canadian actor's mother beamed with pride. But when Fox took the podium, he said he was simply happy being able to make a living as an actor. After publicly announcing he had Parkinson's disease, Fox retired early from the sitcom "Spin City" to spend more time with his family -- four children and a wife he met on his first hit series "Family Ties". Since then he has fought for government funding of stem cell research to help find a cure for Parkinson's and related diseases. It's put him under a totally different kind of spotlight where he still wins the praise of fans -- if not for acting, for taking action. And clearly that continues to make his mother proud.
