Hyderabad, Mar 11: The opposition Congress and CPI-M members today staged a walkout in Andhra Pradesh assembly protesting against TDP government's "failure" to fill up posts in various departments "lying vacant for years". Accusing the state government of "shirking its responsibility" to create employment, congress floor leader y S Rajasekhar Reddy said there were at least 2.5 lakh posts lying vacant in various departments. Although Revenue Minister P Ashok Gajapathiraju assured that posts were being filled up "wherever necessary" with over 1.46 lakh appointments being made in the last five years, the opposition members contended that there was a "freeze" on employment in the state. "While appointments are being made purely on the basis of need, there can be no indiscriminate filling up of posts. We are trying to convert redundancy into productivity and properly utilise the available human resources," the minister said. Bureau Report
