Osama bin Laden is believed by Britain still to be in Afghanistan, a spokesman for British Prime Minister Tony Blair said on Thursday. Asked to comment on reports that bin Laden may have fled into neighbouring Pakistan, the spokesman said, “That was not our view. We are still thinking that he's there in Afghanistan.” He said that Blair had spoken to Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf for 20 minutes by telephone. The net is closing now on Osama bin Laden and Mullah (Mohammad) Omar, the leader of Afghanistan's former ruling Taliban militia who is also wanted. He said Musharraf had assured Blair that Pakistan would do everything it could to help in the hunt for bin Laden.
