Kathmandu, Aug 26: Two Maoists were killed and as many security personnel injured after the rebels looted Rs 50 lakh cash and gold ornaments from a Nepalese Bank in Rautahat district after overpowering the guards, police said today.
The rebels entered the Nepal Bank Ltd.'s branch at Chandranigahpur on east-west highway, 75 km from the capital, midnight last night and looted the cash and jewellery.
Two of the four security guards of the bank were injured as the Maoists attacked them before overpowering them.


As the rebels made their escape, they encountered police and in the clash, two were killed. The other Maoists escaped with the stolen money.
Meanwhile, security forces have identified the two persons killed in yesterday's bomb blast at Sitapaila village.
Four persons were also injured in the incident that took place at a residential building at the village near the capital.
