New Delhi, May 20: A Delhi Court today remanded to 14 days' judicial custody the three policemen accused of taking bribe from the father of main accused in the CBSE's All India Pre-Medical Test question paper leak case. Special judge Pratibha Rani remanded to judicial custody till June 03 sub-inspectors Sanjay Gupta and Rajesh Kumar Singh and constable Umesh Singh.
The judicial custody of Sanjay and Umesh had expired while the police custody of Rajesh, who surrendered on May 17, ended today.
CBI moved an application saying the accused should not be enlarged as there were witnesses to be examined and since the accused were policemen, there was likelihood that they would tamper with evidence and influence the witnesses.
The agency said the case was "active" and in the initial stage and there were more incriminating documents suspected to be in the possession of the accused.
They were charged by CBI of demanding money from O P Verma, father of Ranjit and Satinder Singh, the main accused in the paper leak case.
The CBI, in a raid, had recovered some articles belonging to Verma from Singh's car. CBI had also found Rs 2.47 lakh, gold and silver ornaments and household articles belonging to the complainant O P Verma from the residence of Si Gupta.
Delhi police crime branch had on April 10, detected the leakage of question papers of the All India Pre Medical Test conducted by CBSE, hours before nearly 2.4 lakh students were to appear in the prestigious examination. So far over 10 people have been arrested in this connection.
