Hyderabad, Oct 20: In the backdrop of speculation in political circles over possibility of early assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, the ruling TDP is holding a meeting of its politburo here today, the first after Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu survived an assassination attempt by naxals at Tirupati on October one. Though the TDP supremo has so far kept the cards close to his chest on the issue of advancing polls, signals emanating from the ruling party camp point towards such a possibility in the wake of perceived sympathy for the 'born-again' Naidu who attributed his miraculous escape to "God's gift".
Naidu drove to the party office to chair the meeting, his first visit after surviving the naxalite attack.
The broad contours of TDP's political strategy are likely to emerge at the crucial meeting being held against the backdrop of some senior party leaders favouring early polls to capitalise on the perceived 'sympathy factor'.
It is likely to weigh the pros and cons of advancing the elections, which are originally scheduled for September next year.
The political situation in the aftermath of naxalite attack would dominate the proceedings with the politburo expected to draw up a programme to build a mass would dominate the proceedings with the politburo. Bureau Report
