New Delhi, Nov 11: Congress today denied the charge that it had joined hands with BJP to force arms dealer Suresh Nanda out of November 18 Rajya Sabha biennial polls in Uttar Pradesh.
"It is not true. We have our own candidate and every leader of the Congress Party is working for the victory of its candidate Akhilesh Das,” AICC general secretary Ambika Soni told reporters. Nanda had alleged yesterday that Congress and BJP had come together to keep him out of the Rajya Sabha polls. When pointed out Congress leader Pramod Tiwari was on record complaining about the fake residential address of BJP dissidents backed Nanda, she said that Tiwai had denied his involvement in the affairs. "Tiwari had clarified to AICC general secretary in-charge of the state Moti Lal Vora that he was no where involved in the affairs of Nanda,” she said.
Asked whom the party was supporting for the MLC candidate in the state, Soni merely said, "Let the election commission scrutinise the names first."
