Jaipur, Dec 04: The Rajasthan government today decided to give about 50 kgs wheat and Rs 30 per month to poor women in the state as part of famine relief. About 3.5 lakh such women, including widows, handicapped and aged, have already been identified and the district collectors have been directed to begin giving the relief immediately, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said.

The wheat for the scheme would be taken from the BPL Category Stock, he told reporters after a high-level meeting on famine relief. The old age pensioners would not be entitle to the scheme, Gehlot said.

Wheat would also be provided to any NGO or temple for holding free community meals in poverty stricken areas, Gehlot said. Raising the labour ceiling at the relief camps, he said, two lakh more labourers were given jobs taking the total so far to about 16.5 lakh.
