New Delhi, Aug 26: BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu today sidestepped the demand made by party leader Pramod Mahajan for dismissal of the Congress-led Maharashtra
government in the wake of the Mumbai bomb blasts.
"That is the demand of our Maharasthra unit," he told
reporters when asked whether the party supported the stand
taken by Mahajan.
At the same time, Naidu wanted the Maharashtra government to take strongest possible action against those involved in these attacks and wanted it to be more vigilant.
"It is no doubt the work of terrorists and who needed to be identified quickly and strong action taken against them. This is part of the proxy war waged against India," he said.
The BJP president said it was part of the effort to weaken and destabilise the country's economy. Eight such incidents have taken place in the last six months in Maharasthra, he said.
He said stringent steps like imposition of Pota needs to be carried out in Maharasthra to deal with this problem.
