Railways to focus on safe operation and maintenance of trains
New Delhi, July 07: Railway board chairman R K Singh has directed all the general managers of zonal railways to involve officers, supervisors and cutting edge staff to focus on safe operation of trains and maintenance of fixed and mobile assets.

Closer monitoring of drivers and effectiveness of brake
power are the central action points of the month-long safety
drive launched by the railways, an official press release said
today.
Meanwhile, Union Minister for Railways Nitish Kumar has convened a two-day national workshop on railway safety on July 11 and 12 here, which would involve a cross section of ground staff like station masters, drivers, gangmen, pointmen, loco
inspectors, signalling inspectors and the workshop staff.
The workshop would deliberate on ways and means to contain and reduce train accidents involving casualties, besides infrastructure maintenance, operation practices, rescue and relief systems, training and upgradation of skills and other internal and external factors affecting rail safety, it said.
